one time i was invited to a brunch. i was asked to bring something to share. i thought and thought. i opened cookbooks. i searched on pinterest. what would i make? oh dear. 

then it hit me. everything's better with cheddar.

cheddar breakfast biscuits

ingredients:
3 cups flour
1 1/2 tablespoons baking powder
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons salt
2 1/2 cups heavy cream
1 3/4 cups sharp cheddar cheese, grated
4 tablespoons butter (for melting)

preparation:
combine flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. 
pour in cream.

add shredded cheese.
mix with spoon until all ingredients are just mixed together. do not overwork dough.
take dough from bowl and place on floured surface. form into mound.

with hands or floured rolling pin, flatten into square about 1 inch thick.
use sharp knife to cut into squares. 
(this is a perfect opportunity to practice being barefoot in the kitchen.)

place cut squares on prepared baking sheets. 
melt butter in microwave and drizzle over tops of the biscuit squares.

bake in oven at 375 degrees for 22-24 minutes or until tops of biscuits are golden brown. 
remove from oven and let cool. 
eat plain. eat with butter. eat with bacon. eat with eggs. 
just eat.
